Tollywood Fate In Hands Of Those Three

The year 2010 may have given a bumpy ride to Tollywood as it has failed in giving the required dose of entertainment so far. However, things seem to have changed with the response shown to Junior NTR's Brindaavanam.

So now, all eyes are on the films which are going to come in the near future make some good collections at the box office. The hot favorites are the three films - Nagarjuna-starrers Gaganam and Ragada and Ramcharan starrer Orange. Within a span of two months, these three biggies will come to the audiences with their 'different' storylines, as per thier producers.

The key potential for them is their lead stars as well as the overall appeal, along with the much needed sentimental doses. There was a large hope on Siddarth's 'Bava' but then it has turned out to be a dud at the box office despite the presence of veterans like Rajendra Prasad, Ahuti Prasad etc. So now, it is the turn of Akkineni Nagarjuna to prove his mettle.  His first treat this year was Kedi which bombed miserably. The good side of the film was Nag got to pair up with Mamata Mohandas. In Gaganam, Nag is teaming up with Radha Mohan, who gave the sensitive emotional caper Akashamanta which was a hit. 'Gaganam' is said to be an offbeat thriller and the plot is taking place between two key characters - Nag and Prakash Raj.

The film is reportedly based on a real-life plane hijack incident with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. After the lifeless Kedi, which never recovered from its huge losses, 'King'is arriving with a moderate budget in 'Gaganam'. Given the investment, it could turn out to be a profit grosser. Come November, Ramcharan and director Bommarillu Bhaskar are coming up with a cute romantic family entertainer. The film is colourfully-titled Orange and this has Charan pairing up with the bubbly beauty Genelia. Both are said to be playing college-going friends and the story is said to be about their love affair.

The music is by Harris Jayraj and the audio is already a success giving the feel of a musical blockbuster. It remains to be seen how the mega powerstar will match the expectations of the audience, after the mega blockbuster Magadheera. Some of the big films on which the producers have incurred heavy losses is a sour grape story of the film industry over the last 10 months.

Hopefully, Gaganam, Ragada and Orange will make up for the losses and result in satisfying profits closing the year with a smile on the faces of the Tollywood folks and the Telugu audience.

Inter-Caste Marriages In Nandamuri Family?

The Nandamuri family is by far the most noted and influential families in the Telugu cine circuit and arguably in the entire state. While their unity is one aspect, it is said that they are very against inter caste marriages and that has more to do with their caste feeling.

For instance, Mohan Babu said ok when Manchu Vishnu wanted to marry Viraanica Reddy, Chiranjeevi showed resistance at start and though he was upset at first about Srija marrying a Brahmin boy Sirish, later on, he became ok.  Now, even the crafty Allu Aravind seems to be okay with Bunny marrying a Reddy girl.

But history has shown that the Nandamuri family kept Hari Krishna’s second wife away and never allowed her into their family. Even NTR junior was given the welcome after many years since they realized his worth for political and other reasons. Without taking a risk, Chandrababu Naidu ensured personally that junior’s marriage gets fixed with Narne Srinivas’s daughter. That way, it appears the Nandamuri chauvinism is quite at its peak when compared to others.

RGV-Maniratnam 'Drama Revealed'

This might come across as a surprise to you but then if you have observed closely, while watching the credits of the two films ‘Donga Donga’ and ‘Gaayam’, two interesting things are seen. The story for ‘Gaayam’ is given as Mani Ratnam while the story for ‘Donga Donga’ is given as Ram Gopal Varma.

Recently, one of them asked Ram Gopal Varma about the same thing and this is what he had to say- “Me and Mani Ratnam were good friends so we thought that we should exchange our names for branding purpose and increase the mileage of the film. Both are our own stories but just the names were switched”.

Well, this is a drama of its own but then it goes to show that even those days, Ramu was a man who believed in giving twists in real life. ‘Donga Donga’ was more of a cult film while ‘Gaayam’ was a trendsetter of sorts as many films came on those lines. Wonder if Ramu-Mani are still friends or not..

'Brindaavanam' DVD @ Vijayawada Raithu Bazar

Whenever we see the film folks urging not to buy piracy DVDs or VCDs, we must remember that there is a lot of pains behind it. The entire process of film making is like a penance so it is hard to digest that crores worth movies are being sold for peanuts and that too on the roads.

A source from Vijayawada revealed that the famous Bandar road has got a Raithu bazaar and a walk inside the bazaar gave a shocking revelation. Besides vegetables, there was another basket containing DVDs. There were DVD copies of Brindaavanam, Khaleja, Puli, Robo.

The DVDs were being sold at Rs 25-30 each. So for the price of half kilo brinjals, one can get these big budget flicks. Are the authorities sleeping? No one cares about the woes of the movie makers.

Even those who travel by Satavahana express from Vijayawada say how piracy dvds are sold in lots. Vendors come and rush on to the platform carrying a basket full of CDs. They sell piracy CDs at Rs 20/- as well. What are the railway police doing? This is truly shameful and painful!!

Tamannah Sleeps With Anushka

The milky white beauty Tamannah has been off the Telugu circuit since a while and there is a good reason for that. This pretty girl has been ruling the roost in Kollywood with back to back hits and became the queen of Tamil cinema. However, it appears that her happiness is not there for long.

Recent reports from Chennai say that a new mania has begun and that is the Anushka mania. Although she debited on Tamil screen long ago with ‘Rendu’ beside Madahavan, it is just recently, the yoga beauty created a wave with her ‘Arundhati’ and since then, she has been wowing the Tamil folks with her oomph and of course her natural beauty. Adding to that her ‘Vaanam’ stills are bringing madness for men in Kollywood.

In all this, Tammu is being kept aside and it seems that her popularity is going down. Many say that Tamanna’s career is sleeping with Anushka mania.

Perhaps that is one reason why she has shifted her focus again towards Tollywood and right now, she has nearly three big ventures in her comeback innings.

Well, Telugu film industry has always been and always will be the rescuer for many ailing heroines

‘Rakta Charitra’, the most hyped movie of the season is finally released. Let’s see the impression after the first day first show.

Who Like This?
Paritala fans
The people those know about Anantapur politics
The audience those love action and gaction story lines
Ram Gopal Varma Fans

Who Cannot Like This?NTR Fans
People those hate Paritala Ravi

What’s There In Story:
MLA Narasimha Reddy (Kitty) is a big man in his place, Anandapuram. His close aide Veerabhadriah (Rajendra Gupta) brings envy in the eyes of Nagmani Reddy (Kota), a relative of Narasimha Reddy.

Nagmani conspires to divide Narasimha Reddy and Veerabhadriah playing caste cards and bringing suspicions. Eventually Veerabhadriah becomes prey for Nagmani Reddy’s conspiracy. Veerabhadriah is killed.

This brings anger in Veerabhadriah’s elder son Shankar Ravi (Sushant) and he gets into murdering the men of Narasimha Reddy by operating from forests.

Veerabhadriah’s younger son Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) who lives in a city comes to know about his father death. Eventually his brother Shankar also gets killed in police station. That makes Pratap enraged and he takes the place of his brother in killing men with revenge.

Pratap puts an end to Narasimha Reddy, Nagmani Reddy and other allies. Nagamani Reddy’s son Bukka Reddy (Abhimanyu), a hardcore rapist and murderer becomes Pratap’s main enemy.

The rise of Pratap as a powerful killer against Bukka Reddy is noticed by Shivaji Rao (Shatrughan) who sets a new party. Shivaji Rao encourages Pratap to make him politically strong in order to put and end to Bukka Reddy who troubles the growth of his party in Anandapuram area.

What happens from then can be watched on screen.

Who Performed Well?No compromise. All the artistes performed up to their mark.

Vivek Oberoi is at his best as Pratap Ravi.

Shatrughan Sinha steals the show. He emulated the mannerisms of NTR in his own style.

Abhimanyu Singh is the eye turner. His villainy deserves a great mention. He will be known as cruel Bukka Reddy from now to Telugu audiences.

Radhika Apte is good but she has got nothing big to perform than throwing two smiles and shedding 3 tears.

Kota, Tanikella Bharani, Rajendra Kapoor, Ashish Vidyrathi and others are all good.

Analysis:Almost all the incidents in the movie are realistic and not far from facts. The intensity shown in Bukka Reddy’s (Obul Reddy in real life) character, killing him in Maheshwari chambers Room-102 are shown perfectly in tune with reality.

Except Bukka Reddy’s character nothing is strongly carved. The typical Rayalaseema faction chases and murder plots are not perfectly shaped. There couldhave beenmore breath taking intensity.

The biggest flaw in narration is that the intensity of reason for Manda (Asish Vidyarthi) to kill Veerabhadriah (the labor leader) is not established properly. The conviction is not strongly felt when Pratap Ravi’s people keep on killing opponents and their supporters.

The facts and fiction in this movie are well knitted but the picturization part is not impressive. Poor lighting and poor quality of picture are clearly evident. Probably ‘Digital Cameras’ are not capable enough to impress the Telugu audiences at present.
This is Ram Gopal Varma’s film but no shades of that sort were seen either in technical values or dialogue power. Except a couple of dialogues here and there, the typical Varma trade mark is shown little.

The first half is completely political with a little confusion in characters for the audiences those do not know the current affairs. The drama starts in second half and that is impressive.

But on a whole, the movie gives a different feel and fills senses with contentment. Rakta Charitra will certainly pull great chunk of audiences to Rakta Charitra-2.

Bottom-line: It is impressive-That’s all- Topic is over!!!

‘Rakta Charitra' Review: History In Extremes

Film: Rakta Charitra
Rating: 3.5/5Banner:
Cinergy productions
Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Abhimanyu Singh, Shatrughan Sinha, Kota, Radhika Apte, Zareena Wahab, Sushant Singh, Tanikella, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Rajendra Gupta, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kitty and others
Dialogues: Nageswara Rao
Music: Dharam- Sandeep
DOP: Amol Rathod
Editing: Bhanodaya, Nipun Ashok Gupta
Story, screenplay, direction: Ram Gopal Varma
Producers: Madhu Mantena, Sheetal Vinod Talwar, Chinna Vasudeva Reddy, Rajkumar
Release Date: 22nd Oct 2010

Ram Gopal Varma is back after a long hiatus into the Telugu circuit and he chose his favorite genre of violence, intensity and bloodshed. Let us see how far RGV is successful in convincing audiences. Let us peep into good and bad in the movie:
StoryNoted MLA Narasimha Reddy (Kitty) has got a trusted aide in the form of Veerabhadriah (Rajendra Gupta) in Anandapuram area.

However, Narasimha’s relative Nagamani Reddy (Kota) is unable to take this for reasons of caste and losing his presence. He plants a seed of friction and in no time, Narasimha Reddy gets Veerabhadriah killed. This enrages Veerabhadriah’s elder son Shankar Ravi (Sushant) and he gets into a killing spree and operates from forests.

Veerabhadriah’s younger son Pratap Ravi (Vivek) who is away from all this gets to know of this and before he realizes, Shankar Ravi also gets killed. He vows revenge on his father and brother’s killers and in this process, Narasimha Reddy, Nagamani Reddy and others are brutally killed. Nagamani Reddy’s son Bukka Reddy (Abhimanyu) who is insane to the core is unable to take this and he becomes Pratap’s main enemy.

Meanwhile, the rise of Pratap as opposite force to Bukka Reddy is noticed by Shivaji Rao (Shatrughan) who sets a new party and he decides to lift Pratap to put an end to Bukka Reddy. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Vivek Oberoi is an apt choice, his eyes deliver the sufficient emotion of revenge and his body language is intense. He has done full justice to his role.

Abhimanyu Singh is a complete show stealer. His menacing looks and his cold blooded performance will give some spine chilling moments.

Shatrughan Sinha was contained and it must be said that traces of real life N T Rama Rao are quite prominent in his gestures and dialogue delivery.

Kota was perfect, Radhika was naturally appealing, Zarina was neat, Tanikella was impressive and he made his presence felt, Rajendra Gupta was adequate, Sushant was brief, Ashish Vidyarthi was alright, Subhalekha Sudhakar was standard, Subrat Dutta was good, the others did their bit as required and added value.

Highlights:Symbolism shots with respect to showing a cycle in Shivaji Rao (Shatrugan Sinha)’s place (recalling TDP and NTR), usage of left had, addressing as ‘brother' are impressive.

Showing a dog barking after the death of Naga Mani Reddy (Kota) depicts ‘kukka chaavu'..That’s impressive.

Ram Moorthy (Tanikella) saying to Pratap Ravi ‘to shave beard as a politician should look clean at face although dirty at heart'

Bukka Reddy’s introduction scene

Disappointments:RGV’s voice over is overflowing. It’s not a radio drama to explain everything with a voice over. Whatever RGV is saying in voice, is being conveyed visually! It disturbed the mood to some extent.

Pratap Ravi stays in forest as per the dialogue. But he stays in a dusty hill area that hardly looks like a forest. It may sound trivial, but when such observations linger in mind, some audience gets distracted from the mood.

Why Dabbunnoda song? The context is not convincing.

Challenges:The subject chosen is quite hard hitting so one needs to have some background information before actually connecting to the film.

Facing criticism with respect to Shivai Rao’s (a replica of NTR) characterization and converting it into publicity element.

Facing criticism and questions with respect to ‘pedda sir' (implying YSR) and again converting it into a publicity element

Mood is suddenly dropping down at the conclusion point of the movie. Waiting till Part-2 to get completeness in feeling is a challenge for audience and it’s challenge for maker to sustain interest for 1 month till Part-2 release.

Analysis:“Goodness or badness can never be anyone’s property. They are situational.
If a man is hunger free, he showers only goodness. But if any sort of hunger (be it lust, power craving or greed or vengeance) hits him, he spells badness'.

Rakta Charitra is a fiction based on historical facts.
It’s rather powerful to say that it’s a true depiction of human emotions.
It’s a tour to extreme human beings.

Ramayan or Mahabharat or any chronicled history in dramatic form depicts the extremities of emotions in every character. For example if Karna is known for generosity, its shown with eccentricity of chopping off his own armored skin to offer for a beggar. If Bheeshma is known for sacrifice, its shown in extreme point of choosing life time celibacy to keep himself and his legacy far from kingship. Any drama holds grip only when the characterizations are strong. This fact was known for dramatists right from Veda Vyasa and Valmiki. Similar path is now chosen by Ram Gopal Varma is depicting a historical fact in dramatic form.

He has shown Bukka Reddy as a determined rapist (!) and dedicated murderer (!).The incidents canned around this characterization are extreme in imagination. Pratap Ravi is shown as a bad guy, but for a true reason (since he is chosen to be the hero of the plot).

Ram Gopal Varma is a master of movie making and an expert storyteller. This is seen here yet again. As such, the storyline can be understood in few words and there is nothing unpredictable about it but then it is the way Ramu takes off with each scene and how he gets the viewer into the film which counts.

His screenplay techniques and shot compositions are one of those dexterities he possesses. Perhaps a layman might find the visual appeal to be dim but then there are few flashes of his brilliance which are seen on and off. The focus was more on the emotion of the protagonist and the villain so that is a challenge to handle for more than two hours.

On the other hand, it is not a typical Varma characterization where most of the actors give hard expressions, talk less and convey more. Here the characters speak sufficient and sometimes little verbose!! But still there is a rhythm in their performance and it connects to the regular audience.

On a whole it’s a movie about the raise of a leader.

Bottom-line: For the lovers of realistic violence.

Deepika the main lead in Race 2

2011 is Deepika Padukone’s year. She is fast leaving the other Bollywood beauties behind in the race for superstardom.
Ramesh Taurani producer of Race 2 has confirmed that Deepika will be in the main lead opposite Saif in Race 2. Guess Priyanka Chopra has lost out on this one too.
Now there is scope for PC to try and get back into this film if she wants because there’s a role for a second girl. However Sonakshi Sinha is also waiting in queue. So we’ll see kya hota hai.

Sonam’s sickness leaves a big hole in the producer’s pocket

The Masakalli gal Sonam Kapoor, is feeling much better now after her recovery from typhoid. But her illness and her consequent inability to be present on the shoot of Mausam has almost shaved producer’s head and pocked. The loss is rumoured to be around Rs 75 lakh.
An entire set for Mausam, directed by Shahid Kapoor’s father, Pankaj Kapur, had to be dismantled in Mumbai recently.
“Some romantic scenes of Sonam and Shahid had to be shot. But since Sonam went on sick leave for a long period, we had no option but to cancel the October shoot. The dismantling of the set caused a big loss to the producer,” says a source.
Adds the source, “The next schedule will now be shot in Gwalior. Sonam might be required but only for a few scenes.”

When contacted, Talwar confirmed, “Sonam couldn’t shoot since she was down with typhoid. We had to dismantle a set in Mumbai and lost Rs 75 lakh. But it’s okay. What is important is that Sonam is better now. No problem about the money. We are insured on that, we’ll recover that at a later date.
And of course, we’ll shoot the Mumbai schedule very soon, but that’s only after we complete the Gwalior shoot.”

‘Brindavanam’ Hungama In Tanjavur

There is nothing new seeing Rajni Kanth’s movie getting huge applause in various AP cities and towns.

But it is indeed a point to be underlined to see Jr NTR’s ’Brindavanam’ attracting the crowds in Tamil Nadu.

Well, there is a reason behind that. The local Telugu students have made enough hype for the movie and it is obvious that public attracts to hype. Sources say that even the local Tamilians find interesting to watch the movie there. The hype was created by the students of ‘Sastra University’. The movie is being screened at Big Cinemas in Tanjavur.

But many have duped the merchandise and selling on their own looking at the demand for those items. Salman Khan is worried that by doing such marketing, the amount is lost from going to the really deserving people.

Salman Khan is going ahead to discuss about this with both police as well his ‘other friends’ in Mumbai those can really fix the problem in their own way if they really wish.

Sri Hari Felt Bad Watching Hugging Scene

Real star Sri Hari is one man who is known for his open thoughts and frank talks. This has been seen in any public events or forums that he participates. However, this time, it was a different and delicate situation for this Tollywood Pahelwan and the reasons for that are more personal.

It is heard that Sri Hari went for the special premiere show of ‘Brindaavanam’ and sources say that one scene in particular had disturbed him. This was the hugging scene with Prakashraj but then the reasons for that are quite otherwise. If you are not sure what it is, here is the reason.

Prakash is the ex-husband for Lalita Kumari who in turn happens to be the sister of Disco Shanti, wife of Sri Hari. It is heard that Lalita went through a lot of turmoil during the separation phase and it seems that the real star got into some real emotional situation due to the flashback. So hugging Prakashraj in the film went somewhat uneasy for him.

Fake Collections Of ‘Khaleja’

The latest fad in the Telugu cine circuit is the speculation of box office figures just like the share market. The credit for that goes to the producers of the films and while the logic behind that is not understood since facts are known to all, here is another that has joined the list.

This time, it is none other than the makers of ‘Khaleja’ starring Mahesh Babu. As per them, the first week collections have crossed more than Rs 21 crores. However, the market experts have got a different and reliable version. They say that around 30% blow up has been projected in the figures.

For instance, the collections in US are given as more than Rs 3.5 crores but the real figure is Rs 2 crores, say the overseas reports. While this may sound appeasing to the makers, it is not all convincing Mahesh fans and others. Perhaps it is time for the producers to behave like grown ups and not come up with eye wash reports.

Anti-Kamma Dialogue In ‘Brindaavanam’

The latest film to hit the screens in ‘Brindaavanam’ and as per the first hand report, this is likely to score a hit at the box office. However, there is also a possibility that it can have its own share of controversy due to one particular dialogue which is not going well with the Kamma folks.
Apparently, Prakashraj addresses NTR jr in one scene and says out of frustration “Pilavagaane Oopukuntu Vachchinappude Ardhamayyindhi…Ey Jaathi Vaadivonani”. Now, many of the Nandamuri fans are feeling hurt with that dialogue.
They feel that it is implying that NTR junior is a dog and given his presence in the Kamma community, they are taking it as an indirect insult. So now, some of the fans are looking at approaching few news channels since the media channels are good at blowing up even a trivial issue. Let us hope it doesn’t happen that way.

Brindavanam Opinion: 'Director Failed Only There'

The film ‘Brindaavanam’ has been getting a sound response from various corners and though I feel like the response is exaggerated, perhaps if you go through my views and thoughts about the film, you can get an idea. Firstly, I think the film reminded me of one of Balakrishna's hit movies ‘Nari Nari Naduma Murari’. Here again, Junior NTR has done a film with two heroines. The budding director Vamsi Paidipally could not prove his mettle with his debut venture ‘Munna’ earlier but this time, he seems to have got a second chance under Dil Raju's banner and directed NTR which is a golden opportunity. Through this film, I have understood that Vamsi can also score at the Box Office with his subject and story telling. However, he has been able to achieve it due to a major contribution from Koratala Siva with his dialogues and Chota K Naidu with his camerawork. Together, he was successful in coming up with a good entertainer.

As far as the story goes, the film revolves around the lives of Bhumi (Kajal) and Indu (Samantha) who are the best of friend but they are not aware that they are actually cousins. Bhumi's father wants to get her married to his nephew (Ajay) but she wants to study further. Indu decides to rescue Bhumi and in comes Indu’s boyfriend Krish (NTR). He is sent with Bhumi to get introduced to Bhumi's father Bhanu Prasad (Prakash Raj) as Bhumi’s boyfriend. Krish goes to their village and realizes that Bhumi is quite insecure there and it is not her but the rest of her family members as well who need to realize the value of love. In this process, he does whatever is required to get the family understand the concept of love. He is also successful in reuniting Bhanu with his step brother Siva (Srihari), who were once bitter enemies. But as the families unite and the two villages rejoice the occasion, Krish discovers that Indu is none other than the daughter of Srihari's wife’s (Sitara) sister. Now, trouble will come as saying no to Bhumi at this point will annoy Bhanu. If Krish says yes then Indu will pay the price for helping. How our beloved Krish solves this problem as well is the rest of the story.

The highlight of the film was the different performance of NTR. He attempted variety in his performance through action scenes which were done with finesse and maintaining excellent timing in comedy scenes. The leading ladies Kajal and Samantha fulfilled the glamour quotient and Kajal had an element of performance in her role than Samantha, so she was the dominant player. Prakash Raj and Srihari were competent with equal weight in the film. While Prakash was serious and contained, Srihari's role had a touch of comedy. The key comedy by Venumadhav and Brahmanandam is entertaining and the remaining cast did complete justice to their roles.

The other highlight in the film is the action sequences. The twins Ram-Lakshman came up with proper action scenes and excellent choreography. The music by Thaman added the extra colour to the film. Director Vamsi Paidipally has worked on the script well this time and gave an impressive screenplay. He narrated the story in a consistent manner and was successful in making the viewers stick to their seats throughout its running.

On the flip side, the there is no strong and convincing explanation to the reason behind the separation of the two families. Director failed only there.

Also, the highly valuable Tanikella Bharani was not used to his caliber though his character was filled with a negative touch, so his contribution became negligible. Similarly, even Ajay did not get a proper etching with his character. Though Chota captured the village beauty with his camera in a good way, the lighting was not upto the mark in few scenes. In terms of entertainment, the film is a complete family treat. The icing on the cake is when the great N T Rama Rao appears as Lord Krishna in the climax which made the front benchers go into frenzy, they were whistling and applauding his presence.

With this, producer Dil Raju is back on track. The eye catching part is the beginning of the film wherein the song Brinadaavanamadi... looks interesting and intriguing. It reminds us of Aha Naa Pellanta where the old song was made use of during the starting titles. Overall, a film that is technically rich, content wise poor, formula wise better.

Allu Sirish Caught Red-Handed ?

Allu Sirish is caught red handed. He proved he is nasty, filthy, vulgar and volatile. It is obvious to maintain emotional quotient by celebrities as they live with their image. They always cry to maintain their image. They cannot swallow the bitter pill when any gossip comes about them in any media. They expect demi-god worship all the while. But they don’t behave in the way they should behave to get that worship. See how Allu Sirish reacted when a follower in twitter.

This is the mail sent by Ramesh, “Plz publish this twitter snapshot ... I have taken.. This was personal message sent by Allu Sirish…. and make every one know how these stupids are...what I messaged him was "aapa ra babu nee sollu.. eppudu ayya pero leka pothe mama pero theesukovadam.. publicity sampadhinchu kovadam.."
This is indeed straight and hitting but being a celebrity how Allu Sirish should respond? "ni...........le..mari follow enduku avuthaav..dhengei aithe.."is his response..

He responded like a normal youngster with the line above. Then why media should treat him as someone different from normal crowds. Why should he weep when media writes gossips about him? He too can follow his own line when gossips are written on him. Allu Sirish is prone to receive blows from public if he fails to correct his public image.

Brindavanam’ Review : It’s Good

Movie: Brindavanam
Rating: 3.25/5

Cast: NTR junior, Kajal Agarwal, Samantha, Prakashraj, Srihari, Kota, Mukesh Rishi, Ajay, Tanikella, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmi, Venu Madhav, Raghu Babu, Brahmaji, Sana, Hema, Pragathi, Sithara etc
Dialogues: Koratala Shiva
Music: S S Thaman
Cinematography: Chota K Naidu
Story, screenplay, direction: Vamshi Paidipally
Producer: Dil Raju
Theatrical Release: 14th Oct 2010
This is the first time I’m seeing Jr NTR in perfect size and shape. Earlier in Simhadri he was a like a foot ball and then in Rakhi he was alike a jackfruit. And after liposuction, in Kantri he looked like a match stick. But now in ‘Brindavanam’ he is matchless. He looked handsome and perfect. There is ample glow in his face and blow in his body language.

The story in brief goes this way:

Krish (Jr NTR) is the son of a filthy rich man (Mukesh Rishi). His love interest is Indu (Samantha). One day she asks Krish to save her friend Bhumi (Kajal) from an unwanted marriage that’s planned by her father. For which, she carves a plan and asks Krish to go to the village along with Bhumi acting like her boy friend. Krish obeys Indu on force and lands in the village located in Kurnool district.  Bhumi’s father (Prakash Raj) is the feudal lord in the area whose step brother (Sri Hari) lives in a village of border district Mehboobnagar. Rivalry burns in between these two. Their common father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) wishes to see their two sons together before he dies. Krish enters the scene and he showers love in the heart of everyone. Entire family members of Bhumi love him, at last her father also loves him and finally Bhumi also falls for his love. Then what happens? Will Krish marry Bhumi? Or Indu? That becomes the climax.

Performances:
Jr NTR is up to the mark without any overdose anywhere. His handsome look and wholesome performance entertains all.

Kajal is glowing with sex appeal while Samantha is hot with photogenic look.

Had there been an intensity added to Tanikella Bharani’s character with more scenes, and had there been length and depth in the characters of Brahmi and Venu Madhav, the film would have entertained into a higher league.

Director Vamsi Palli is supported with all top notch technicians right from Martan K Venkatesh, Chota K Naidu, Anand Sai and Ram Lakshman. And Vamsy seems to have perfectly concentrated on script and hence the result is seen. Production values of Dil Raju are very high and good.

Analysis:
The screenplay of the movie is very interesting and arresting. The comedy of Brahmanandam starts at the fag end in second half that tightens the loose belts of audience.

Although a couple of fights are filled with ‘arava sambar athi’, the hard work is understood. The songs are canned beautifully. Character selection is also very good. Kajal and Samantha performed with healthy competition. The choice of Sri Hari and Prakash Raj is also perfect. No vulgarity can be seen any where. That’s a notable point today.

The songs are really good and choreography is very arresting. The camera work, art department and music are up to the expectations.

To sum up, it’s an entertaining entertainer that can be watched by everyone along with their family members.

Bottom-line: Can be watched

2nd half started in  screen2 too

'vachadu ra' lives up to its hype. good family atmosphere in the movie

2nd half is going on screen2. yet to start in screen 1

Brief story : NTR - rich brat, Samantha - his GF, Kajal - Samantha's friend

NTR on samantha's request helps kajal and scores good marks in her family

Konkana in family way…

Konkona Sen Sharma is rumoured to be pregnant just weeks after marriage. Not many weeks back did the pretty lass tie the knot with her boyfriend Ranvir Shorey…
If buzz is to be believed, Konkona has decided to stay away from the hectic shoots till September next year. She has also opted out of a project which she had signed earlier because she doesn’t want to stress herself physically during her pregnancy.
The couple is keeping mum about her pregnancy as of now.

Pawan Kalyan To Sign With Rajamouli

Ever since the much hyped and long pending ‘Komaram Puli’ turned out to be a dud, Pawan Kalyan has been going through some introspection when it comes to his movies. Just recently, it was reported that Pawan had his own doubts about not teaming up with Trivikram for a new project.
And another update has arrived. It seems Pawan is contemplating on how it will be if he takes up a project with the tough taskmaster S S Rajamouli. S S has a good track record and his grip over the script is quite popular. However, there are few ifs and buts if the project has to really materialize.
Now, Rajamouli is busy with his graphics venture ‘Eega’ then he has another one with Prabhas. Given the schedule, it will take time and Pawan might just have to wait it out. The other possibility is that Prabhas project can be kept on hold. From Pawan’s end, it is heard that he is very keen to team up with Rajamouli but how the interest is from the other side, only time will tell.

Beware Of Balakrishna

The one thing that many in the Tollywood circuit say is that they fear while speaking to Nandamuri Balakrishna. While his temperament seems to be one factor, here is another point which has come up. It seems that Balayya is one man who just cannot stand a lie or a fake statement.
One has to be true when he/she speaks to Balayya or else that person is finished. It seems that recently, one person went to Balayya to invite him for a function and said “you are the first person to get the invite”. This sent Balayya into a rage who threw away the invite and reprimanded the other person for telling a lie. Apparently, that person had given the invites to quite a few and this statement was more like a formality.
However, that didn’t go well with Balayya and he showed stars to the person who came back dazed and sweating. Well, the moral of the story is, even if you want to say something to Balayya just for formality sake, it better be true or else..…Dabidi Dibide!!

Why did Katrina slap Imran Khan???

‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ stars Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif, in the lead. The shooting is already on and during one of the shoots, Imran was slapped sixteen times instead of once, by the gorgeous lass. The most interesting part was Imran himself insisted that Katrina should slap him more, infact 16 times.
Imran, like is mamu Aamir is a perfectionist and so in order to make the scene look real, he insisted on Kat slapping him till the shot was perfect.
Even though this request of Imran came as a surprise to Katrina, she is not very proud of slapping him so many times but she definitely is happy about the slaps being completely real and authentic.

Puli-Khaleja-Brindavanam SMS Comedy

It is known that ‘Puli’ proved to be a failure at box office. ‘Khaleja’ got divide talk and didn’t reach the expectations on a whole. Doubts are in line about the fate of ‘Brinvanam’ looking at the recent track record of director and producer

An SMS is making rounds this way in this context.

Pawan Kalyan: Mahesh! Naa Puli poyindi. Nee khaleja poyindi..pada..iddaram bar ki velli baadhalu marchipodaam.
Mahesh: Enduku annayya tondara. Okka 5 rojulu aagu. Jr NTR kooda vasthaadu. Mugguram kalisi marchipodaam baadhalu”

There is nothing to take serious about this but its just being taken as a fun among young crowds.

Rajini ‘Robot’ Creates Terror At BO

To all those who thought that superstar Rajinikanth is down and out and his latest venture ‘Robot’ will be a dud, he has given a fitting reply. As per the latest reports, the film has recorded a whopping Rs 117 crores in just one week. This has got past the record set by the Hindi movie ‘Dabang’ (82 crores).

One of the noted distributors revealed that the film collected Rs 60 crores in Tamilnadu, Rs 30 crores in AP, Rs 4 crores in Kerala and Rs 8 crores in Karnataka. As for the Hindi version, it has collected Rs 15 crores. As for the screens, it opened up in 2200 screens as against the 1400 of ‘Dabangg’.

So far, about 92% occupancy is being reported across all centers. Even remote places like Ghaziabad, Jodhpur and Meerut are showing heavy rushes. Since the tax structure is different in the south, estimates say that it has crossed Rs 260 crores. That way, Robot has broken all possible records in a dubbed format.

‘Khaleja’ Review-2: Just Average

Movie: Khaleja
Rating: 3/5Banner:
Sri Kanakaratna Movies
Cast: Mahesh Babu, Anushka, Prakashraj, Rao Ramesh, Shafi, Ali, Sunil, Brahmi, Subbaraju, Tanikella, Raghu Babu, M S Narayana, Dharmavarapu, Amit, Veda etc
Music: Mani Sharmaa
Cinematography: Yash Bhatt, Sunil Patel
Editing: Sreekar Prasad
Story, screenplay, direction, dialogues: Trivikram Srinivas
Producers: Singanamala Ramesh, C Kalyan
Released on: 7th Oct 2010

The texture recalls ‘Mrugaraju’. The desert comedy recalls ‘Aata’. Rao Ramesh recalls ‘Magadheera’. Mahesh Babu’s wish coming true recalls ‘Baba’. It’s an inspired movie from all bits and pieces of other movies and lacks in original stuff.

The story is about a cab driver Raju (Mahesh) who is worshipped by villagers as God as their savior. They want a savior because the villagers keep dying mysteriously. Raju unleashes the secret behind the deaths and rescues them from all sorts of evils. Subhashini (Anushka) is a girl who loves Raju after some cinematic twists and turns. GK (Prakash Raj) is the antagonist whose selfishness lies behind deaths in villages. Why GK does that? That’s the mystery.

The story is completely different and new for both Trivikram and Mahesh for sure. But the handling isn’t with care.

Knowingly or unknowingly audience tend to compare ‘Khaleja’ with ‘Athadu’ due to combination aspect. But Athadu is many times ahead of this Khaleja. There is no comparison. Anushka is used just for the sake of female quotient and nothing else. She has got no justified role at all.

Some scenes have indeed worked.

Anushka runs away from Amith and comes to Mahesh Babu. She says that she ran away from him as he looked dangerous holding condoms with him. Then Mahesh says, “I have no condoms with me. Am I not more dangerouns?”
Mahesh says emotionally, “Comedy cheste nene cheyyali. Inkevaru chesinaa oppukonu”.

Trivikram tried to repeat his Athadu flavor in some scenes but they failed. One such scene is with Bharani. Mahesh gets down from a truck along with Anushka who si the daughter of Bharani. Then Bharani asks his men to finish Mahesh. The men crack some practical jokes like ‘we are having tea’. That didn’t give right kick to the tempo of the scene.

The action episodes are monotonous. Every fight is dealt ruggedly without any concept. Trivikram’s attention during action scenes that he has shown with Atahdu is not seen now.

Brahmanandam got wasted. Sunil is good. Ali’s part is entertaining. Raghubabu has a trivial and serious role.

Mani Sharma’s music is average.

First half is too elastic. The actual story is understood only in last 30 minutes. It is difficult to understand what is happening on screen due to confused screenplay. A straight narration would have helped both director and audience in making and understanding respectively. This is a movie just for time pass but not to quench the thirst to watch a wonderful and captivating one.

Busy Ash is missing from the Robot dos

‘Khaleja’- The First Report

This is the first hand report leaked in film nagar as per the discussions among the people those watched the movie at a private screening in Rama Naidu Studio.

They say that there is huge action and wonderful comedy in the movie that makes the audiences stick on to seats without a gap to take breathe.

“Trivikram Srinivas rocks again with Mahesh Babu after ‘Athadu’. The interval bang gives a feel of relief for all the audiences for watching a good movie of Mahesh Babu after a long time”, says a viewer.

“Although Mahesh arrived late, his ‘Khaleja’ sounds latest and will not disappoint at all. Mahesh Babu performed in hilarious way and Trivikram’s trade mark dialogues are gripping, subtle and above expectations. The dialogue delivery of Mahesh Babu also sounds different this time. That’s really interesting. His ‘oota padam’ in this movie is ‘BHAYYA’…which will certainly become a popular usage among youth with this movie.  The song ‘Om Namo Rudraya..’ stands as highlight in the movie” ,says another.

“Anushka is showcased beautifully. She is literally ‘very hot’. Brahmanandam, Ali, Raghubabu and Sunil did great job in their comedy department. Cinematography is mind blowing. Fights are excellent. Mani Sharma’s RR also worked well” is the SMS that started circulating.

“Villagers make Mahesh Babu a demigod. That part is very weak in the film”, is a grey area in the film as per the talk.

Talking about the story a viewer says…:

Seeta Rama Raju (Mahesh Babu) is a taxi driver.

GK (Prakash Raj) and Tanikella Bharani are business partners selling Iridium that costs many times to gold, which is used in rocket building.

Tanikella’s daughter is Anushka. He wishes to get her married to Prakash Raj’s son (Amit) so that they can associate to do more businesses in illegal way. They also run medical colleges. They send a researcher to a border village in AP to discover that traces of Iridium. He discovers a Lord Krishna idol and finds that is made of Iridium. Later he learns that entire village has Iridium treasure under ground. Only 534 people live in the village. The conspiracy of Prakash Raj and Bharani is to evacuate those people and capture complete Iridium treasure. Dilavar Singh, a local, helps Prakash Raj in this matter.

After getting the things done, Prakash Raj kills Dilavar Singh and the Researcher for not letting the secret out. He also plans to kill Mahesh Babu in a planned way. He asks him to go to Rajasthan to handover the insurance money of Dilavar Singh. Mahesh Babu goes there. Shafi and Rao Ramesh are village heads there.

How dangers surround Mahesh and how he encounters them? That is the twist from then.

Note: This is the first hand report. This may or may not be in tune with actual outcome. Get glued to this place to find full original review shortly.

Shahrukh Calls Shankar And Cries

He is known as King Khan and also as the Badshah of Bollywood but then even he could not sustain the power of a superstar and a director who is known as the showman of the south. We are talking about Shahrukh Khan, Rajinikanth and Shankar respectively.

Apparently, Shankar had approached SRK first with the idea of doing ‘Robo’ but Shahrukh had reportedly turned it down and gave it a very light hearted treatment. Sources say that the Bollywood superstar is now kicking himself for his decision and had called Shankar recently.

It seems he was upset and apologized to Shankar for his act and is now asking the director if they can work together. Well, given Shankar’s thought process, it could be a while before he will consider SRK for any of his projects. Perhaps waiting for few months will give us the clear picture. For now, better luck next time SRK!!

Karmic Reason For ‘Robo’s Success

The hottest and latest hit of the season is ‘Robo’ and if all goes well then it might be touching the blockbuster grade as well. While some are attributing it to Shankar’s technical wizardry, some are giving the credit to Aishwarya Bachchan’s beauty.
Then, there are those who are giving part credit to A R Rahman and his music. But reliable sources say that it is not them and the key player for this is Rajinikanth himself. Apparently, the element of divine intervention seems to be the key as per few scientific observers which comes as a surprise.
They say that it is Rajini’s charity works and his human touch with everyone that has played a key role. To be honest, many feel that the film is not that great but it is the gentle push from divine forces due to his karmic activity that has pushed the film to this kind of response. What are your thoughts on this folks..

Reel Buzz: ‘Robo’ Effect On ‘Khaleja’?

Well, the much awaited film ‘Robo’ has hit the screens and beating all odds, the film has managed to rake in a positive response and hit talk. Now, few groups are trying to figure out what sort of impact this will have on the upcoming release ‘Khaleja’ which is on October 7th.

Sources say that kids and families have taken a liking for ‘Robo’ and this would mean that it is only the fans of Mahesh Babu who would be the takers for ‘Khaleja’. Mixed reports have been coming from inside regarding the shaping up of the film so that is another thing which has to be looked upon.

There is also the chance that repeat audience will come for ‘Robo’ since this is a sci-fi film and Khaleja is an action treat. Though the desired feeling is that even ‘Khaleja’ must score success, the real result will be known once it hits the screens.

Spotlight: What National Websites Say About ‘Robo’

The movie ‘Robo’ has been attracting huge attention all over the nation and also among the population of South East Asian nations. The movie reached the expectations of majority audiences. Even the critics from various regions have given a hit rating on a whole. The movie released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions in India and hence the critics from North and South have given their instant opinions. Let us see what the popular national portals wrote about ‘Robo’ and its rating.
“That's not all, this Robot is Superman + Spiderman + Terminator + Godzilla, all rolled into one. There's more to this Robot. It can replicate itself, wage a vicious battle, turn into an Anaconda or a monster ball and wipe off an entire army. Whew! Known for larger than life canvas, ROBOT is Shankar's most expensive and if I may say so, his most imaginative film thus far. And who better than Rajnikant for the pivotal role”!

--Bollywoodhungama.com (4/5)
“Parts of the film are superbly entertaining - the scale is spectacular, the story is ambitious and the special effects are impressive.  But parts, especially in the second half, are so needlessly stretched and cacophonous, that you're just waiting for it to end. Still, I strongly recommend that you see Robot, to partake in writer-director Shankar's prodigious imagination and to revel in the sheer force of nature that is Rajinikanth”.
--NDTV (3.5/5)

“This is India's most expensive blockbuster. Each crore spent over every minute of this movie shows, if you watch it for the spectacle alone. The sheer scale and special effect of this film remains hitherto unsurpassed in Indian cinema. The film smartly borrows from the genre's Hollywood tradition, right from Terminator to Transformers. Which is to say, there is yet an emotional connect. This film, just a few feet too long, is fine entertainment by itself. I'm evidently an atheist to this religion, so I guess, you can trust this note”.
--Hindustantimes (3/5)
“But Robot isn't effect alone. It has a plot too which, if you really pay attention, has a meaning and a message. The film carries forward the man-machine war through interesting twists and turns and creates a lively love triangle between scientist Rajnikanth, medico student, Aishwarya Rai and robot Rajnikanth”.
--Timesofindia (4/5)
“Dozens of directors claim that they have the commercial formula down pat but none can be compared to Shankar who belongs to the rare breed of film-makers who can actually combine a genre like science-fiction with spicy masala quotient. Here is also where Shankar distinguishes himself as someone who understands star-power and the means to manipulate it: all through the first half, the pace is steady, making use of its star-players' charisma appropriately and unleashing it at others”.
--rediff (3.5/5)
The Rajni fans in Chennai are on cloud infinite at this point of time. They are happy to see their star rocking the nations with his hit flick at the age of 61. Aishwarya Rai pairing up with Rajni also added commercial value to the movie in the biggest way possible. It’s a scale up for director Shankar and Sun Pictures indeed made its presence felt in international movie business.

Who Are Behind ‘Robo’ Negative Talk?

The much hyped and most talked about movie of the season is ‘Robo’ without a doubt but before it hit the screens, a lot of negative talk was making rounds. Many were convinced that this was going to be a hard hitting flop and it was almost registered until the film hit the screens and turned the tables. Some said that it is another ‘Puli’ much before its release.

It turned out to be getting an unusually good response so a question has risen to see if any mischief has happened. Some of them are now revealing that this could be the work of NTR junior fans and Mahesh Babu fans since the films of both the heroes are now just a week away for the release.

Given the fact that ‘Robo’ has got its presence in nearly every prime theatre, the idea was to give it a negative touch so that it winds up its show and the movies of the stars didn’t have a problem. Well, if they have done it then it looks like their plans have backfired as the negative publicity turned out to be the success mantra for ‘Robo'.

Aamir Khan wants to watch Rajni's Robot

Bollywood actor-producer Aamir Khan says he is yearning to watch southern superstar Rajnikanth-starrer Robot.
"I am most keen to see Robot. Rajni sir rocks!" Aamir posted on social networking site Facebook.
The movie, which is called Endhiran in Tamil, also features Aishwarya Rai. Apparently made at a budget of Rs.175 crore ($38 million), it is being lapped up by audiences across India.
Actors who have seen the movie are all praise for it, but have pointed to its inordinate length.
Riteish Deshmukh posted on Twitter: "Superstar Rajni! He is a phenomenon. Action in Robot is just what you want to watch as a Rajni fan. Go watch it now - a bit long but worth it."
Actor Tusshar Kapoor opined: "...quite a fun film but a bit long. Rajni looks young and energetic even at this age. No wonder he's such a superstar."
Actress Sameera Reddy went gaga over the 60-year-old actor. "As the No.1 Rajnikanth fan, I am so proud that he has kicked ass at the box office! So proud of you Rajni sir! You are the best!" she tweeted.
