There is an ongoing debate in Kollywood circles on naming the movies in Tamil to get qualified for tax exemption. While Goa and Shivaji - which were purely north Indian titles, they were recognized as Tamil Names and hence they were given tax exemption while real Tamil names were rejected citing that they are just names and not Tamil words!!!
Karunanidhi has come in support for providing tax exemption for Goa and other north Indian names. He says that as Goa or Shivaji does not have any other translations other than they are just names, and both the names had a place in dictionary as name of place and person respectively, they were given tax exception.He also warned those who politize his policies.
